Hibu: contracts, cancellation and alternatives

Hibu sells websites, ads and listings to small local businesses across the US. Its terms are published, which makes it possible to see exactly how the contracts work. Here are the parts that matter most before you sign or when you want to leave.

What Hibu sells

Hibu offers small local businesses websites, search ads, SEO, display and social ads, listings management, reviews and reputation tools, and video. (Hibu terms)

Minimum terms and renewal

From Hibu's Digital Products and Services Terms (revised 27 June 2023):

  • 12 month minimum terms for several products, including Search Basic, Fusion, Hibu Social Standard, Reviews, Mobile Boost, Listings Management and Reputation. Some packages have 6 month minimums.
  • After the minimum term, most products renew month to month. Search Basic renews for further 12 month periods.

How to cancel

  • Cancellation is by phone, to (877) 237-6120.
  • For several products, your cancellation must be received at least 15 days before the end of the minimum term, or the service continues for another month.

Early termination fees

Hibu's terms list fees for ending some products early, including:

Product Early termination fee
Starter Website $99
Pro Website $449
Display or Social $149 or the monthly budget, whichever is greater
Listings $120
Reputation $150

What you own

  • Domain: the terms say the domain Hibu provides for your website is registered to Hibu.
  • Call tracking numbers: the terms say the number belongs to Hibu and will not be transferred to you.
  • Your content: you own your data, but grant Hibu a permanent licence to it, and Hibu is not responsible for storing it after cancellation. Keep your own copies of text and photos.
  • Video: you own the finished video.

What reviewers report

As of 2 November 2026:

  • BBB: A+ rating, accredited since 2021, 107 complaints in the last three years.
  • Trustpilot: 4.7 out of 5 from more than 1,100 reviews.

Positive reviews mention helpful representatives and more traffic. Complaints on the BBB mostly concern billing after a term or a cancellation request, phone only cancellation, and website content. BBB letter grades do not include customer reviews.

Before you sign, or when you leave

  • Register your own domain, so your web address always stays yours.
  • Keep your main business phone number on your Google profile and website.
  • Make sure you are the primary owner of your Google Business Profile. See owner vs manager.
  • Note your minimum term end date and the 15 day notice window.
